Waste, Emissions and Water Consumption Management

Waste management

TIM’s Environmental Policy guides the efficient and responsible management of solid waste, one of the goals assumed by the Company in its ESG Plan, with the goal of recycling at least 95% of solid waste by 2026. In 2025, the company achieved 99.7% waste recycling (excluding organic waste and class C and D construction waste).

In compliance with the National Policy for Solid Waste (Law no. 12,305/2010) and Decree 10.240/2020, TIM shares with business partners the responsibility for the receipt and proper disposal of post-consumption electronic equipment (such as smartphones, modems, batteries and accessories). The Company provides consumers with the possibility of exchanging used cell phones or smartwatches for discounts for the purchase of new products, thus extending the lifecycle of these devices. Additionally, TIM provides disposal points for cell phones and accessories for material recycling and return to the production chain.

See below TIM’s waste management, discriminated by type and disposal method:

WASTE DISPOSED BY METHOD (t)

Emissions Management

TIM has adopted a proactive stance on the issue of tackling climate change, concentrating its efforts on mitigating the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions arising from its operations and adapting to their effects. We believe the telecommunications sector to be a facilitator in the global decarbonization movement. Our technology enables a reduction in displacements that are dependent upon fossil fuels and their associates impacts, whilst also offering innovative solutions that reduce GHG emissions for our corporate clients, thus promoting the creation of shared value.

TIM has reaffirmed its commitment to the climate agenda through the annual creation and publication of its Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Inventory and the continual monitoring of its environmental indicators. Our management is dynamic and proactive, with quarterly controls of the discharge of emissions, which allows us to make strategic adjustments and guarantee greater effectiveness. This dedication to transparency and precision in the management of emissions establishes the Company as a benchmark in environmental practices in the telecommunications sector. The GHG Inventory (which covers scopes 1, 2, and 3) is developed in compliance with the internationally-recognized directives of the GHG Protocol and audited by an independent third party. This external assurance is fundamental to ensuring the integrity and reliability of the reported data.

When compared to 2019, TIM reduced its emissions in scopes 1 and 2 in 2025 by 80% (considering the purchase of I-RECs, without offsetting via carbon credits). Our emissions data and governance practices are also published voluntarily within the sphere of the CDP, a global initiative in support of transparency in emissions. In 2025, for the third year running, TIM achieved an ‘A’ rating.

Water Consumption Management

We recognize water as a vital resource and, as such, we pay special attention to its efficient use. We are committed to monitoring the water management at all the units once a month, ensuring transparency and control of our consumption, with this information being included in our Environmental Management System. This monitoring allows us to increase data tracking, support decision-making, and identify opportunities for improving the efficiency of our use of this vital resource. In parallel, we also conduct half-yearly analyses of the portability of our water to ensure compliance with the required standards.

The majority of the water used by TIM is supplied by local concession operators, with its use being solely in administrative and industrial buildings. The points of greatest consumption are identified periodically and addressed by the responsible departments, focusing on the reduction in use.
